My Cities

I am very intrigued by my little visitor feed on my webpage. I see that I have some regular visitors and this THRILLS me. I seem to have a regular from Manassas, Virginia (not too far from DC) and another from St. Louis, Missouri. The former is where I grew up (DC, not Manassas) and the latter is where I went to school. I LOVE both cities.

Perhaps I am biased, but DC has got to be the greatest city in the States. It is beautiful, green, full of parks and bike paths, has tons of FREE museums, is international, cosmopolitan, young, fun, not too northern, not too southern, close to the beach and the mountains, and well, it is and forever will be, home.

St. Louis is my second American casa. I love that midwestern ease. 24-hour Schnucks supermarkets, the Loop, cute Clayton and the trendy Central West End. My university was in a great part of town near parks and shops and I have so many memories of a city that I miss.

I will try to post more on the cities soon! I know I need some American posts!

That "regular" would be lil ole me. I actually live in Bristow which is near Manassas off route 28. I read your blog regularly as I LOVE Italy and I live vicariously through you :) I love Venice and dream of when I can move there one day too. Thanks for the insight into your Italian life.

Hi, I am your St. Louis reader though I live in Venice, too! I am pretty sure I met your family friends last November on my way to the airport. After reading this latest entry, I remembered that they mentioned you went to school here and it clicked. I am from St. Louis and am currently in the US on vacation for another couple of weeks. It's always fun to visit old haunts and I am always happy to go to Schnucks. Would love to meet up when I get back, take care!

YEY!!!!! My secret plan was to have the both of you confess here on the comments board and it worked!!

Carolynn, Thanks for visiting, and if you make it over here please let me know!

Jill, I remember you! You sent me an SMS right after meeting my family friends, but I had just left for a month in Asia and planned on getting in touch when I was back in Venice but by then I had accidentally deleted the SMS and therefore no longer had your number! Do you still have mine? If not send me an email at separea@gmail.com and I'll send it to you!

Hi there. It is strange but i feel connected to you over there. Almost like you are a younger me. Sounds crazy I know. I love my husband and my family and have no regrets BUT if I had not the opportunity to meet him when I did (19) I would have been brave and taken a smilar path. I will get there soon I pray but until hen...I am enjoying your experience. I'd love to get to know you and hear your insight on things..if you are looking for a pen pal?

Carolynn, I have started reading your blog-- it's great! Regarding the pen pal thing, I think I would be the world's worst pen pal-- I can't even manage to stay in touch with some of my closest friends in the states, so I don't think I would be capable to writing someone regularly! I know, I'm horrible. I am even surprised with myself that I manage to somehow write blog entries. Anyways, let's keep in touch via blogs!

Hi,
I am from the DC area but live in Marsala, Sicily now.
I found your blog from Nikki's blog the english lady in Positano, hers is a great blog too. I grew up in Annandale, Fairfax county. Just inside the beltway, I went to school in Fairfax, George Mason and moved to the city at 21DC is awesome! Hip, enthically diverse, great restaurants, Rock Creek Park, wonderful used bookstores, the National Cathedral, the embassies (which all have free cultural events) I truly love my hometown and miss it. I just got back from 10 days back home, it was so much fun to show it off to my fiance and his kids. :)
thanks for reminding me what a great area we are from, Dea :)

I would have agree that DC is the most beautiful city in America. There is so much going on, so many fabulous museums and events, gorgeous parks and a real outdoor life. Love it!
